Should it be a requirement that all new houses built include solar and storage?
The UK needs around 300,000 new homes a year to meet housing demand while aiming for net zero emissions by 2050. Successive governments have tightened building regulations on energy efficiency, but there is no current legal requirement for all new houses to include solar panels and battery storage. Installing them at construction stage is cheaper than retrofitting later and supports greater use of renewables.

With the move towards renewables making use of the available space for panels is a must, houses should power themselves.
