Does the Right have a problem with violence?
UK police data and MI5 assessments have historically shown far-right extremism as the leading domestic terror threat outside of Islamist terrorism, with a majority of recorded serious political violence incidents over two decades linked to the far right. Recent discourse shifted after the murder of former Conservative minister Ann Widdecombe, where the suspect was found with communist literature and the attack is being treated as politically motivated terror, prompting accusations that left-wing rhetoric against right-wing figures has incited violence. Both sides accuse the other of fostering aggression amid heightened political tensions.
