Should the government run an AI Tutoring Tools Pioneer Programme to co-design tools for disadvantaged pupils?

The UK Department for Education is launching the AI Tutoring Tools Pioneer Programme. Up to eight companies will be selected to co-design curriculum-aligned AI tutoring tools with schools. Trials start this summer with a national rollout targeted for 2027 that could reach 450,000 disadvantaged pupils a year.
